Chimi Cheki Yangzom, a Grade 11 Science student from Yoechen Central School in Pemagatshel, has been selected to represent Bhutan in Mission ShakthiSAT, an international space education initiative that aims to inspire girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Mission ShakthiSAT, led by Space Kidz India, brings together 12,000 girls from 108 countries to inspire the next generation of women in STEM. The programme provides participants with hands-on experience in satellite engineering, coding, and space technology, equipping them with practical skills while promoting innovation and international collaboration.
Chimi earned her place through a competitive national selection process jointly conducted by the Ministry and the Government Technology (GovTech) Agency,. Her selection reflects Bhutan’s growing commitment to strengthening STEM education and creating opportunities for young people to engage in global scientific and technological initiatives.
The Ministry congratulates Chimi and wishes her success in Mission ShakthiSAT. Her achievement is expected to inspire more young Bhutanese, particularly girls, to pursue their careers in STEM.
