On May 7, the Hon’ble Lyonpo attended the 27th Dzongdags’ Conference in Tsir🙏ang to discuss and seek support for implementing the Per Child Financing (PCF) model.
The initiative is an education funding approach that allocates financial resources to schools based on the actual number of students enrolled, with context-specific adjustments to ensure fairness across different school settings.
Under this model, schools will receive operational budgets to support essential requirements such as teaching and learning materials, utilities, minor maintenance, and co-curricular activities. Schools will also be given greater flexibility to decide how funds are used based on their needs.
During the session, Lyonpo highlighted the importance of PCF model, stating its role in strengthening school learning environments through improved resource availability at the school level. She also acknowledged the continued support and leadership of Dzongdas and Executive Secretaries in prioritising the education sector.
Participants at the conference welcomed the initiative and raised concerns over the adequacy of the proposed budget.
The conference, chaired by the Hon’ble Lyonpo for Home Affairs, concluded on May 10.
