The Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, Bhutan conducted a Gender Sensitisation Programme for representatives from industries, non-governmental organisations, and corporate institutions on May 21 in Thimphu.

The programme was facilitated by Ms Rinzin Dema from the BEST Project under RENEW and aimed to strengthen awareness and understanding of Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) in workplace settings. The initiative sought to promote inclusive, respectful, and safe working environments across organisations and institutions.

Key topics related to gender equality, diversity, workplace inclusion, prevention of discrimination and harassment, and the promotion of equitable opportunities for all employees were covered during the programme.

Participants were also introduced to practical approaches for fostering positive workplace culture and strengthening institutional practices that support inclusion and respect in the workplace.

Through interactive discussions, case studies, and group exercises, participants exchanged experiences and reflected on workplace challenges and opportunities related to gender and inclusion.

The sessions encouraged participants to identify practical measures that could be implemented within their respective organisations to promote safer and more inclusive work environments. It further emphasised the importance of collective responsibility among employers and employees in creating workplaces that uphold dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.

The programme was funded by ADB under the Pathways for Emerging Skills and Jobs Project.

The Department reaffirmed its commitment to promoting gender-responsive and inclusive workplace practices through continued awareness programmes and collaboration with relevant stakeholders and partner organisations
