Drukair, in collaboration with the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon, RENEW, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, and the Druk Gyalpoโs Institute, has successfully concluded the Tongsa Penlop Inspire Program (TPIP) 2025 under the gracious guidance of Yab Dasho Dhondup Gyaltshen.
Formerly known as the Tongsa Penlop Rolling Trophy, the initiative has been repurposed as TPIP, an educational outreach programme aimed at broadening learning opportunities for students from less privileged backgrounds.
Initially launched in 2018 and implemented through 2019, the program experienced a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With its resumption in 2025, TPIP extended an opportunity to 47 students (23 male and 24 female) from collaborating institutions, along with seven teachers (five male and two female) from across the country, for a duration of 11 days (December 18-28, 2025).
The participating students included recipients of Kidu support from the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon as well as students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Selection criteria emphasized academic promise, active engagement in co-curricular activities, demonstrated leadership qualities, and the condition that participants had not previously travelled abroad. The selected teachers were high-performing educators who also had no prior international travel experience.
The programme served as a valuable platform for both students and teachers, providing them with an enriching international exposure to diverse cultures, traditions, and ways of life, while fostering cross-cultural understanding and global awareness, enabling them to experience learning beyond the classroom and national borders.
