Mr. Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Lyonpo yesterday to reaffirm the longstanding partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO Bhutan) and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development.
During the meeting, Lyonpo acknowledged FAO’s continued support in strengthening school nutrition and improving the wellbeing of students across the country. She highlighted the positive impact of the “One Child, One Egg” initiative, supported by FAO, which has played a significant role in improving the health and nutrition of schoolchildren.
The initiative currently covers 335 schools and benefits 31,579 students, including those in all extended classrooms, primary schools, and five special institutes.
Reflecting the successful collaboration, Mr. Ken Shimizu reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to continuing its support for future collaborative initiatives aimed at improving education, nutrition, and the holistic wellbeing of children.
Mr. Ken Shimizu is in the country for his final mission to Bhutan as FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal. He will soon assume his new role as Deputy Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific at FAO’s Regional Office in Bangkok.
