Four outstanding Class XI students have been selected to represent Bhutan at the First Global Challenge 2026, an international robotics competition that will be held in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from 7 to 10 October 2026.
The national team comprises Tshering Wangmo of Rangjung Central School, Sonam Tshering of The Royal Academy, and Yangchen Dolma and Younten Thinley Dendup of Motithang Higher Secondary School. They were chosen through a rigorous two-stage nationwide selection process that assessed their knowledge, technical skills, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Often referred to as the “Olympics of Robotics,” the First Global Challenge brings together students from around the world to design, build, and programme robots to solve real-world challenges. Beyond the competition, it promotes innovation, cross-cultural collaboration, and global citizenship while inspiring young people to pursue STEM education.
Bhutan has participated in the First Global Challenge since 2023, providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents on an international platform and engage with peers from across the globe.
