The Ministry of Education and Skills Development is honoured to contribute to Project 108, a Royal Initiative to construct 108 Jangchub Chortens along the Mau Chhu River in the Gelephu Mindfulness City.
In support of this noble undertaking, the Ministry today handed over a cheque towards the construction of one Jangchub Chorten. The cheque was formally presented by the Hon’ble Minister to Dasho Tashi Dorji of the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority’s Spiritual Workstream.
The contribution reflects the collective support of the Sherig fraternity, with educators and staff from across the sector coming together in solidarity behind this significant national endeavour. It represents a shared commitment to the values of compassion, harmony and service, and carries aspirations for the wellbeing of present and future generations.
Each Jangchub Chorten, standing 15 metres tall, will house prayers, blessings and sacred texts, serving as a lasting symbol of enlightenment, wisdom and compassion.
On November 1, an estimated 40,000 plus volunteers are expected to gather to construct all 108 chortens in a single day, marking a historic spiritual and national milestone.
The Ministry remains deeply honoured to be part of this visionary Royal Initiative and reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing of the people of Bhutan.
