Coinciding with the 9th Birth Anniversary of HRH Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck today, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development awarded the certificate and cash prize to the six winners of the 2024 HRH Gyalsey Annual Math Award that took place on 1st November 2024.
In the Category 1 (Class IX and X), Sujana Doortraj from Phuentsholing Higher Secondary School won the top position, followed by Tshering Gyeltshen of Bjishong Higher Secondary School in Gasa and Kinzang Choden from Jomotshangkha Middle Secondary School in Samdrup Jongkhar in the second and third position respectively.
Damchoe Tenzin from Karma Academy in Paro bagged the first prize in the Category 2 (Class XI and XII). Karma Yuden from Samtengang Higher Secondary School in Wangdue Phodrang stood second and Pema Yugyal from Desi High School came in the third position.
The first winner received a cash prize of Nu.150,000 while the second and third position holders received Nu.100,000 and Nu.75,000 respectively.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 2,662 students in Category 1 and 1,232 students in Category 2 representing schools nationwide.
The HRH Gyalsey Annual Math Award was established in collaboration with The Druk Gyalpoโs Institute to inspire and honour Bhutanese students who excel in mathematics.
The Ministry extends its sincere gratitude to all participating schools, teachers, and families who have encouraged and supported these young mathematicians.
