The Hon’ble Lyonpo for Education and Skills Development met with Ms. Iffath Sharif, Global Director of Social Policy at the World Bank, and her team yesterday.

The meeting highlighted the World Bank’s support for enhancing Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centers and strengthening the use of ICT in schools. The discussions further explored potential areas of collaboration in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), particularly in strengthening pathways from skills development to productive employment.

Ms. Sharif is visiting South Asia to engage with counterparts on national priorities related to skills, migration, jobs and social protection. Her visit follows the World Bank Group Board’s recent approval of the “Social Protection 500” and “Skill Up” Implementation Plans, which aim to address shared global challenges and achieve common goals.
