As part of her official tour of Samtse from August 23-29, the Hon’ble Lyonpo for Education and Skills Development visited Yoeseltse Higher Secondary School (HSS) on August 27 and Ugyentse Primary School (PS) on August 28 to review the progress of infrastructure development.
Yoeseltse HSS, the first central school in Yoeseltse gewog, has seen significant improvements in its infrastructure, with facilities including WASH facilities, academic blocks, staff quarters, a library and an ECCD center, among others. Construction of additional facilities, including hostels, a basketball court and a football ground, is currently underway.
Once completed, the school will have the capacity to accommodate over a thousand students, significantly improving educational access for students from Yoeseltse, Ugyentse, Norbugang and Sang-Ngag-Chhoeling. Currently, it serves 552 students with a teaching staff of 40.
At Ugyentse PS, Lyonpo visited classrooms and interacted with teachers, while discussing the ongoing construction works.
Funded by the Government of India, the infrastructure development is aimed at creating a model learning environment that supports both teaching and learning.
On August 28, Lyonpo also met with principals from schools in Chhukha, Samtse and Phuentsholing Thromde who were attending an orientation programme on the Cambridge-aligned curriculum in Phuentsholing.
