The second batch of three school counsellors has departed to pursue a two year Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at Sharda University in Delhi, India.

Clinical psychology is highly relevant to school counselling, as counsellors increasingly support students experiencing emotional, behavioural, developmental and psychosocial challenges. Advanced knowledge and skills in clinical psychology will strengthen their capacity to better understand students’ needs, identify concerns at an early stage, provide appropriate support and interventions, and facilitate timely referrals for specialised care when required.

Investing in the professional development of school counsellors is an important step towards strengthening school based mental health and wellbeing services and ensuring that students receive timely, appropriate and compassionate support.

We wish Pema Rinzin of Mongar HSS, Sangay Tenzin of Sherubling Central School, and Nawang Lhuendup of Lungtenphu MSS every success in their studies. We look forward to their return and to the valuable knowledge, skills and experience they will bring towards further strengthening school counselling services.
