We are pleased to share the following documents developed as part of the project “Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Schools: Building on What Children Value and Aspire to Do and Be,” funded by GPE KIX and IDRC-

  1. Understanding Children’s Valuation of Educational Capabilities for Scaling Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Secondary Schools in Bhutan: Baseline Report from Bhutanese Schools 2026– The baseline report presents the findings from the project’s baseline study, establishing the initial status of GESI and children’s valued educational capabilities in the participating schools.
  2. Tshomo and the Magic Bubble – A children’s book designed for students in the lower grades, focusing on capabilities such as Bodily integrity and Education through an engaging and age-appropriate story.
  3. Friday Lunch Circle – A children’s book that promotes capabilities including Participation, Love, care, respect, and Social relations, encouraging inclusive and supportive relationships among children.
  4. Rewriting Norms: Narratives in Scaling GESI – This book presents narratives and experiences from students and faculty, highlighting efforts and lessons for scaling GESI within schools and beyond.
  5. Learning Innovation Knowledge Exchange (LIKE) Club Activity Book – This book contains a series of activities designed to promote and strengthen children’s valued educational capabilities.

The project is being implemented in five schools in Samtse Dzongkhag, with LIKE Clubs established as an intervention to promote Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), with a particular focus on strengthening children’s valued educational capabilities.
