Her Royal Highness Princess Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck honoured Cheyang Kuenchap, Class V student of Gesarling Central School in Dagana at the 7th Paralympic Festival held yesterday.
Cheyang, a promising national para athlete, was recognised for earning a bronze medal at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai, marking a proud achievement for Bhutan. At a young age, he has represented the country on international platforms including the Japan Para Badminton International 2024 and the Thailand Para Badminton International 2025.
Her Royal Highness also recognised Chimi Dema for securing a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 in New Delhi.
Held under the theme โWe See Abilityโ, the festival highlighted inclusive sports, confidence-building among youth with disabilities and awareness of Paralympic values.
Over 1,000 participants including students, educators, parents and key stakeholders took part in the festival, engaging in various interactive sports, including blind football, kidsโ athletics, boccia, wheelchair basketball, para badminton, para shooting, and para-archery.
Also present at the event was the Minister of Education and Skills Development, along with senior officials and invited guests. The Bhutan Paralympic Committee organised the festival.
