Bhutan Summer Skills 2026 was launched today at the Royal Institute for Tourism and Hospitality (RITH) in Thimphu. It is an initiative dedicated to promoting the internationalisation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), creating opportunities for learning, skills development, and cultural exchange.

This year, the programme welcomed 11 international participants from countries including Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Spain, and Israel. Over the next two weeks, they will engage in a series of interactive learning experiences in traditional Bhutanese cuisine, traditional painting, wood carving, and traditional embroidery. These sessions will be conducted by experienced master trainers from the RITH and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum.

In addition to classroom learning, participants will take part in social and cultural activities, including field trips to Phobjikha Valley and Punakha, a hike to Paro Taktsang, cultural immersion programmes, and interactions with local students.

Addressing the launch, the Director General of the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, (DWPSD) extended a warm welcome to participants and highlighted the importance of the program and TVET for the future of Bhutan.

The programme running from April 13-26 is being organised by DWPSD. It was launched last year with 12 international trainees.
