His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck on February 28 inaugurated the FIFA Arena project at Loseling Middle Secondary School in Thimphu, marking a significant step forward in expanding access to quality football facilities for young people in Bhutan.
The FIFA Arena is a global initiative launched by FIFA with an ambitious goal of building at least 1,000 mini pitches worldwide. The project is designed to provide children, particularly those with limited access to sports infrastructure, with safe, high quality and accessible spaces to play football. The mini pitch is developed with sustainability at its core, using a FIFA selected turf system, along with technical installation guidance and ongoing maintenance training to ensure long term use and impact.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Education and Skills Development, FIFA Regional Director, and officials from FIFA, the Bhutan Olympic Committee, and the Ministry.
The Bhutan Football Federation has installed facilities at Tendruk Central School in Samtse as well.
