With the funding support of the Government of India under Project Tied Assistance Projects (PTA), the Ministry of Education and Skills Development initiated a short-term Immersion Program in India for Bhutanese educators as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen teacher capacity. This initiative provided teachers with exposure to international best practices in education, particularly the Cambridge International Education framework.

To date, a total of 2,664 teachers from across Bhutan participated, visiting reputed schools and institutes to observe teaching methods, curriculum design, and assessment strategies. The program enabled teachers to enhance their pedagogical skills, classroom management, and instructional leadership, while aligning their teaching practices with global standards.

Participants reported significant professional growth, including improved confidence in lesson planning, student assessment, and adoption of innovative teaching techniques. Many highlighted that the experience motivated them to implement evidence-based practices in their own classrooms, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence.

The immersion program forms a cornerstone of the Ministry’s approach to advancing teacher professional development and delivering excellence in education throughout Bhutan. Through targeted investments in educators’ capabilities and international exposure, it drives enhanced student performance and equips Bhutanese youth for success in a globalized world.
