The Hon’ble Lyonpo visited Samtse from March 3-4 to meet the newly appointed Dasho Dzongdag and attend the 9th Dzongkhag Tshogdu.
En route to Samtse on March 3, Lyonpo stopped in Phuentsholing to meet the DWPSD team and TVET heads who were attending the 3rd TVET Consultative Meeting. During a brief interaction, Lyonpo highlighted the strong potential of TVET and emphasised the importance of making TVET an attractive career pathway through innovation and new initiatives.
Later that evening in Samtse, Lyonpo met with the Dasho Dzongdag and the team including four gups from Yoeseltse, Namgaychhoeling, Sang-Ngag-Chhoeling and Ugyentse gewogs, among others. The discussion focused on several education-related matters such as enhancing heating and cooling systems and WASH facilities in schools, ECR, ECCD and the upcoming youth center in Samtse. The meeting also discussed the progress and challenges related to various access facilities that are crucial for the communities, particularly for students. Concerns related to school admissions, teacher shortages and school budgets were also discussed.
The following day, Lyonpo attended the 9th Dzongkhag Tshogdu, which was chaired by the Thridzin. During the session, members deliberated on a range of governance and development matters including issues related to the education sector.
