The Honโ€™ble Lyonpo paid a visit to Yarabling Higher Secondary School (HSS) in Yonphula, Trashigang on January 28, accompanied by Dasho Dzongdag and a Senior Superintendent of Police. The visit was undertaken to review the progress since its inauguration in August 2025 as the countryโ€™s first specialised school dedicated to supporting students struggling with substance abuse.

During the visit, Lyonpo toured key facilities of the school, including classrooms, the library, the ICT room, the kitchen, WASH facilities, hostels and staffrooms. She commended the progress made through enhanced facilities aimed at students’ holistic development.

With a total staff strength of 31 including nine female staff, the school currently caters to 58 students including four girls.

The school offers a safe, supportive and structured environment that enables students in recovery to continue their education while receiving dedicated counselling and peer support. It places greater emphasis on counselling, mentoring, mindfulness practices, physical activities and skills-based programs. These initiatives aim to foster personal healing alongside meaningful learning, helping students reintegrate confidently into society and pursue a positive future.
