The Honโble Lyonpo reached Lhuentse Dzongkhag on January 26 and met with Dasho Dzongdag and the team including the school principals, Thrizin and gups. The meeting focused on key education and government initiatives related to curriculum, central schools, staff shortages, school feeding program, road access and other related concerns. During the meeting, Lyonpo also offered a Trashi Khadar to Dasho Dzongdag to mark his new appointment.
On January 27, Lyonpo, accompanied by Dasho Dzongdag visited three ongoing farm road renovation sites being supported under the High Impact Community Development Project, GoI.
The first site was a 4.6 km farm road from Ladrong to Yumchey under Jarey gewog which will benefit 60 households. This was followed by a visit to a 7.8 km farm road connecting Zhongmey to Pelphu Goenpa under Maedtsho gewog, benefiting 29 households. The final visit was to a 22 km farm road site from Gonyid-Wambur chiwog under Tsaenkhar gewog which will serve 76 households.
According to the gups, the existing farm roads were in poor condition and offered limited benefits to the communities, posing serious challenges, particularly during the monsoon season. In addition, the lack of proper road infrastructure for transporting farm produce was a major issue that adversely affected livelihoods, as farming remains the main source of income in the villages.
The renovation works, once completed, are expected to significantly ease transportation challenges, improve access to markets and essential services, and create better livelihood opportunities for the communities.
Lyonpo is currently on an official tour covering Lhuentse, Trashigang, Trashiyangtse and Zhemgang from January 25 to February 1.
