The 23rd National Training of Trainers (NToT) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) commenced today in Thimphu, with 36 youth participants including 22 female and 14 male. The participants are Y-PEER members representing Y-PEER Networks based in various colleges under the Royal University of Bhutan.
The training aims to strengthen the capacity of Y-PEER members as certified youth peer educators in SRHR, enabling them to take on leadership roles and spearhead Y-PEER initiatives within their respective networks.
Through this training, participants will be equipped with advanced knowledge and practical skills related to SRHR, empowering them to lead healthy and responsible lives, while effectively supporting their peers in addressing SRHR-related issues.
Upon the completion of this 5-day training, participants will attend an additional 2-day workshop on design thinking, where they will learn to apply social innovation tools to address SRHR challenges in their communities.
The training is being organised by the Programme and Youth Coordination Division under the Department of Education Programmes, with facilitation by senior Y-PEER members. It is supported by UNFPA in Bhutan.
Following this training, a 2nd cohort comprising 37 Y-PEER members will undergo a similar 5-day training.
