The Honโ€™ble Lyonpo visited the innovative ICT-integrated pilot lab classrooms at Loselling Middle Secondary School and Dechenchholing Higher Secondary School in Thimphu yesterday. The pilot classrooms were inaugurated in 2022 as part of the digital collaboration between the Education Ministries of Bhutan and the Republic of Korea.

Each classroom is equipped with a comprehensive high-tech package including a digital lectern, electronic blackboard, laptops, webserver, essential operating software, and fully refurbished classroom infrastructure with new furniture designed to support ICT-enabled instruction.

According to the school principals, the facilities have significantly strengthened teachersโ€™ competency, knowledge and teaching skills through the use of digital technologies. Students have also benefited from the digital classroom improving their overall learning outcomes.

During the visits, Lyonpo commended the collaborative efforts and emphasised the importance of leveraging digital tools to prepare students for a rapidly evolving global stage.

The Republic of Korea funded the initiative under the project titled, โ€˜Innovative ICT-integrated Pilot Classroom,โ€™ a five-year programme (2021-2025). The project was implemented by the Ministry in collaboration with the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, Republic of Korea.
