Ugyen Dorji, a Digital Fabrication trainee at the Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute (JWPTI) has been selected to represent the country at the CezeriFEST 2025 International 3D Design & 3D Printing Competitionย inย Turkey.

CezeriFEST, a global platform dedicated to promoting 3D creativity, innovation and technological advancement among students and institutions worldwide. This yearโ€™s competition, themed “Developing products that will make the lives of disabled individuals easier using 3D design and 3D printing techniques,” will be held from November 24-28. It is organised by the TURKISH COOPERATION AND COORDINATION AGENCY (TฤฐKA).

Ugyen Dorjiโ€™s project, โ€œPressing Mechanical Dishwasher for Easy and Portable Habits for Persons with Disabilities,โ€ secured its place among the top 10 finalists. His non-electronic, mechanical dishwasher is designed to support individuals with physical disabilities in carrying out daily dishwashing tasks independently and with ease.

Many people with limited mobility, particularly in their arms or hands, face significant challenges performing repetitive and strength-based motions required for cleaning utensils. Ugyen Dorjiโ€™s innovation addresses these challenges by introducing a manual pressing mechanism powered by simple mechanical motion instead of electricity.

According to Ugyen Dorji, the design focuses on ease of use, accessibility and eco-friendliness. โ€œBy integrating a spring-based pressing spinner system, users can clean dishes with minimal physical effort. The compact and lightweight structure also ensures that it can be conveniently placed in small kitchen spaces or used in environments without electricity,โ€ he said.

The project aims to empower people with disabilities by promoting self-reliance in daily household chores while supporting sustainability goals through non-electric, water-efficient functionality. It reflects an inclusive design approach that blends practicality, affordability and meaningful social impact.

JWPTIโ€™s participation in CezeriFEST 2025 marks a significant milestone in the instituteโ€™s efforts to advance excellence in technical and vocational education. The institute remains committed to promoting innovation and inclusive technology development in alignment with national and global priorities.
