The Hon’ble Lyonpo for Education and Skills Development paid a visit to the Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute in Dekiling, Sarpang on September 27 where she met with the management and interacted with Desuups attending a training in Basic Electrical Wiring and Solar Technology.

The month-long training held as part of the Desuung Skilling Programme commenced on September 1 and concluded today with the awarding of certificates to 30 Desuups.

The training focused on the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical circuits and solar power systems including safety protocols and industry standards.

During her visit, Lyonpo emphasised the importance of aligning technical and vocational education with 21st-century skills to meet the growing demands of Bhutan’s development goals particularly with the upcoming Gelephu Mindfulness City. She noted the crucial role of the institute in preparing our youth to meaningfully contribute to the country’s visionary project.

To date, the institute has trained a total of 148 Desuups through five batches since the program’s inception in 2024. The next batch of training is expected to be held in December 2025.
