On August 9, Lyonpo visited the major infrastructure development underway at Yoeseltse Higher Secondary School which is being transformed into the first central school in the gewog.
With funding support from the Government of India, the school will have new facilities including a hostel, a 12-unit integrated classroom block, a dining hall, a kitchen and sports facilities such as basketball and volleyball. The existing structures will also be renovated to create a more conducive learning environment for both students and teachers.
Once completed, the school will have the capacity to accommodate over a thousand students significantly improving educational access for rural students from Yoeseltse, Ugyentse, Norbugang and Sang-Ngag-Chhoeling. Currently, it serves 585 students with a teaching staff of 66.
During an interaction with the management team, Lyonpo emphasised the importance of maintaining quality and standards in the construction process to ensure the long-term sustainability of the infrastructure.
Following the school visit, Lyonpo travelled to several farm road project sites including routes from Dungkar to Lengthrey, Samtenchu, Dungkar Via Zoepaling to Renchinphu ‘B’ and Kinzangling to Rinchenphu as well as the proposed airport site in Yoeseltse gewog.
