The auspicious occasion of the First Sermon of Lord Buddha also known as Drukpa Tshezhi is observed on the fourth day of the sixth month in the Bhutanese calendar.
On this day, Lord Buddha after attaining enlightenment gave his First Sermon on the Four Noble Truths including the existence of suffering, the cause of suffering, that the cause of suffering can end and the path to the end of suffering at Deer Park in Sarnath, India.
The day is celebrated as a national holiday in Bhutan allowing people to commemorate and honour the teachings of Lord Buddha.
