Bhutan participated in the Asia-Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC) “BRIDGE Summer Camp/Bridge Kids Camp 2025” held in Fukuoka, Japan from July 12-20. The camp saw participation from over 60 countries.
The Bhutanese delegation comprised two boys and two girls as Junior Ambassadors accompanied by a Chaperone (Escort Teacher) from Zhemgang and two Peace Ambassadors (Former Junior Ambassador).
Established in 1989 by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Fukuoka, the APCC aims to foster global friendship and peace by connecting children around the age of 11 from countries across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Bhutan has participated in the APCC since then and till date it has benefited about 246 students, 36 teachers and 23 Peace Ambassadors. The opportunity to participate in the camp is offered to different Dzongkhags on a rotational basis. In 2024, the opportunity was given to Gasa Dzongkhag.
The delegation had the unique opportunity to experience Japanese culture firsthand by staying with host families in Fukuoka. During their visit, they engaged in cultural exchange activities, explored Japanese customs and proudly presented Bhutanese culture through performances of traditional music and dance. This experience promoted mutual respect, lasting friendships and cross-cultural understanding.
The Scouts and Sports Division under the Department of Education Programmes reaffirms its commitment to Bhutan’s continued and active involvement in future APCC events including preparations for APCC 2026.
