A three-week Leadership Training Programme for scouts began on July 1 at the National Scout Center in Paro. One hundred fifty scout students including 70 boys and 80 girls from schools across 20 Dzongkhags and four Thromdes are taking part in the programme.

The main objective of the 21st batch of the programme is to cultivate essential leadership qualities, discipline, responsibility, teamwork and decision-making. It is also aimed to instill a sense of patriotism and respect to His Majesty, the Country and the People and commitment to national service. It will inspire scout leaders to provide voluntary services to their communities. Further, it will enhance physical and mental endurance through structured and intense activities. The training will conclude on July 21.

The programme is implemented with support from the Royal Bhutan Army and four personnel from the Commando Wing in Shaba have been engaged for the training. Twenty-five scout leaders from previous badges are engaged as volunteers to support the training and management of the programme.
