On May 4, the Hon’ble Lyonpo as a Focal Cabinet Minister for Lhuentse Dzongkhag met with a team including Dasho Dzongdag, Dzongkhag sector heads and the local leaders.
The meeting highlighted the Dzongkhag’s budget utilisation status for 2024-2025 and allocation for the 2025-2026 financial year. Local leaders raised several critical challenges in their communities including poor road infrastructure, tourism, lack of boarding facilities, smart classrooms and ICT support as well as teacher shortages.
Lyonpo addressed these concerns by outlining various measures already in progress and additional plans to address these gaps. She reassured the gathering of the government’s continued commitment to ensuring equitable progress in the region.
The meeting was part of Lyonpo’s official tour to Bumthang and Lhuentse from May 1 to 6, during which she also graced the National Teachers’ Day celebrations and engaged with educators and Dzongkhag staff to understand their challenges and acknowledge their contributions.
