As part of her commitment to strengthening ties with educators, the Hon’ble Lyonpo met with Bumthang teachers in a special session following National Teachers’ Day celebrations on May 2. Continuing her outreach, she visited Ladrong Primary School in Jarey gewog, Lhuentse on May 4. The school currently accommodates 68 students and is staffed by six teachers.
In her address, she highlighted a series of strategies aimed at improving the teaching environment and promoting professional development. Among the key developments shared were the Ministry’s initiative to align national curriculum with the internationally recognised Cambridge curriculum and the introduction of immersion programs designed to expose teachers to global best practices. Lyonpo affirmed that every teacher would benefit from this impactful training program as part of the 13th Five-Year Plan.
Additionally, Lyonpo spoke about the National Teachers Service, Bhutan Professional Standards for Teachers and one egg per child program to address nutritional deficiencies in school children. She further shared about the plans to improve internet access in schools and adopting a cost-per-child funding model to ensure fair and efficient allocation of educational resources.
Highlighting the importance of emotional well-being, Lyonpo urged teachers to create inclusive and fear-free learning environments. “We must guide our students with empathy and build classrooms where emotional well-being is valued alongside academic excellence,” she said.
Yesterday evening, Lyonpo held a brief session with school principals from across Lhuentse Dzongkhag where she shared her words of wisdom and urged school leaders to lead with dedication and integrity.
Throughout her engagements, Lyonpo acknowledged the crucial role teachers play in shaping the nation’s future and reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering dedication to building a more equitable and future-ready education system.
