The 5th Bhutan Middle Management Hotel Program (BMMHP) Convocation was held on 5th March 2024, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of 14 graduates hailing from various prestigious hotels. This year’s convocation promises to be an exceptional celebration of achievement and resilience within the hospitality and tourism sector.

Since its establishment in 2008, the BMMHP program has continuously strived for excellence in preparing future leaders in the dynamic realm of hospitality and tourism. The program distinguishes itself by offering classes conducted by a cadre of international experts drawn from both industry and academia, ensuring a comprehensive and globally relevant education.

The program was designed to empower middle-level managers with advanced skills and knowledge essential for elevating the standards of tourism services in Bhutan. It offered a comprehensive curriculum covering professional development and hospitality management, integrating international best practices and expertise from both foreign and local professionals.

One unique aspect of the BMMHP program is the strategic scheduling of classes during the lean tourist season. This innovative approach not only maximized the learning opportunities for participants but also demonstrated the program’s adaptability to industry demands and challenges.

The BMMHP program, supported by the Lottery Fund, Canton of Zurich, and certified by HWZ University, has consistently set high standards in hospitality education. The collaboration between these entities has been instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment for students, enabling them to thrive and succeed in their academic pursuits globally.

The convocation ceremony was graced by the Honorable Minister for Education and Skills Development, along with other senior government officials. Other esteemed dignitaries from Switzerland include Mrs. Marianne Frei, Chairperson of the Swiss Board; Mr. Claudio Zing, President of the Swiss Bhutan Friendship Association; Mr. Linard Brungger, representative of Hotel Belvedere; Ambassador Kinga Singye, President of Swiss Bhutan Friendship Society and Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan; and a few representatives of industry partners.
