[Thimphu, June 23, 2023] The Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development (DWPSD) under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) held a closing ceremony on June 23 to celebrate the successful completion of the Critical Skills Training (CST) for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency, the Minister of the MoESD. The Director and Chief Program Officers of the DWPSD, along with the accomplished trainers and trainees who have completed the intensive training program, attended the closing ceremony.

His Excellency, the Minister of MoESD, congratulated and offered heartfelt Tashi Delek to 15 trainees who successfully completed the tailoring training, a comprehensive four-month program including a two-week basic entrepreneurship course, meticulously implemented by the Institute of Advanced Tailoring and Fashion Design (IATFD). Similarly, another 15 trainees were acknowledged for their outstanding completion of the fundamental computer training program, also spanning four months and including a two-week basic entrepreneurship course conducted by the Athang Training Academy (ATA).

The training programs were funded by the ADB STEP-UP Project and implemented by the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development (DWPSD) in collaboration with the Disabled People’s Organization of Bhutan (DPOB). The training programs aim to build the self-esteem and self-reliance of jobseekers with disabilities so that they can be independent, confident, and contributing members of society. Additionally, the program aims to provide PWDs with relevant skills so that they can get a decent job and lead an independent life.
