Pre-Conference Prepares for the 20th National Education Conference
In preparation for the 20th National Education Conference, a three-day pre-conference was held from August 25-27 in Thimphu. This preparatory event brought together Dzongkhag Education and Thromde Officers representing all Dzongkhags and Thromdes alongside officials from the Ministry including the Director General of the Department of School Education, the Director of the Department of Education Programmes, Specialists and Chiefs among others.
Designed in a workshop format, the pre-conference served as a platform for in-depth discussions to address various educational issues and challenges. Officials engaged in comprehensive deliberations on crucial areas such as the 13th Five-Year Plan, school consolidation, grade repetition and tuition policies, school curriculum and assessment, inclusive education, teacher requirement guidelines, school management guidelines and the school performance management system. Additional discussions addressed national teaching services, individual work plans, career education and counselling as well as programs related to hygiene, feeding, youth, women and children, sports and scouts.
The event further offered a valuable opportunity for Dzongkhag and Thromde representatives to express their concerns, share experiences and collaboratively explore resolutions to critical educational issues. This collaborative approach is expected to foster a better understanding of the diverse educational challenges across different regions and contribute to more effective policy-making and implementation. The key insights and recommendations from these sessions are set to be presented at the 20th National Education Conference scheduled to take place from August 28-30 in Thimphu. These inputs are expected to be instrumental in enhancing the country’s education system ensuring inclusive and holistic development for all children.
