International Youth Day celebrated with 40 youth volunteers in Thimphu
A total of 40 youth volunteers including 20 girls and 20 boys joined the International Youth Day celebration in Thimphu yesterday which was themed ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’.
The Hon’ble Education and Skills Development Lyonpo, Yeezang De Thapa along with Ms. Andrea James, the UNICEF Bhutan Representative graced the event organized by the Programme and Youth Coordination Division of the Department of Education Programmes.
The event was organized to acknowledge and recognize the potential of young people as key partners in Bhutan’s socio-economic development and to celebrate their contributions to society. A book titled ‘Transformed Hearts: Personal Journeys of Youth Volunteers in Bhutan’ which is a collection of testimonials from prominent youth volunteers in Bhutan was also launched.
The youth volunteers showcased their talents through thematic drama, declamations, experience-sharing and cultural performances as a part of the event.
