Eden Lucky Tshomo Wins 16th Golden Youth AwardEden Lucky Tshomo, a student from 𝕌𝕘𝕪𝕖𝕟 𝔸𝕔𝕒𝕕𝕖𝕞𝕪 in Punakha won the prestigious 16th Golden Youth Award (GYA) marking a significant milestone in her academic journey. The competition which brought together 80 participants from across 20 Dzongkhags showcased Bhutan’s brightest young minds competing for recognition and an opportunity to pursue higher studies abroad. Palden Dorji from Tang CS in Bumthang claimed the title of first runner-up while Thinley Yoezer Phuntshok from Yelchen CS and Thekchog Lodey from Nangkor CS, both in Pemagatshel secured the second and third runners-up positions respectively. The GYA camp held from March 16-23 in Thimphu was guided by the overarching vision of “Developed Bhutan” and centered around the theme “The Future is Green.” The intense competition saw participants undergoing a series of tests ranging from physical fitness, aptitude, creativity and intellectual abilities. The event was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, the Vice President of The Bhutan Youth Development Fund. The closing ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister accompanied by the Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries highlighting the importance of youth development initiatives in the country. The Golden Youth Award initiated in 2005 by Her Majesty Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck and coordinated by The Bhutan Youth Development Fund aims to nurture young leaders who excel in various domains including academics, sports, cultural activities, leadership and social contributions. Since its inaugural camp held formally in 2008, the award has served as a platform to recognize and celebrate exceptional talents among Bhutanese youth offering recipients the invaluable opportunity to pursue higher studies abroad.
