BHUTAN 2020 Safe Water Project hits milestone in providing safe drinking water to schoolsIn a significant stride towards ensuring safe drinking water for schools in Bhutan, the BHUTAN 2020 Safe Water Project reached a significant milestone with the successful installation of 120 sky hydrant filters in its Phase 1 rollout. The initiative was officially launched at the Rotary International Convention in Toronto, Canada on 25 June 2018. Spearheaded by Disaster Aid Australia (DAA) in collaboration with the BHUTAN 2020 Safe Water Project, the project aims to furnish schools across Bhutan with safe drinking water facilities. The collaboration between DAA and the BHUTAN 2020 Safe Water Project has received notable recognition as it was honored with the prestigious ENERGY GLOBE AWARD for its exceptional environmental endeavors. Mr. Brian Ashworth, the CEO of DAA conducted a comprehensive review of the installed sky hydrant filters across 21 schools during his recent visit to Bhutan from March 4-15. The collaboration between DAA and the Rotary Club of Thimphu closely coordinates with the Health and Wellbeing Division under the Department of Education Programmes to ensure schools with safe drinking water facilities. During the visit, Mr. Brian met with the Ministry’s Hon’ble Secretary and officials to discuss the progress of ongoing projects. Expressing satisfaction with the initiatives, he reiterated DAA’s commitment to providing continued support to ensure sustainable access to safe drinking water in Bhutan’s schools. Acknowledging the project efforts, Dasho Secretary expressed gratitude to DAA and Rotary Club of Thimphu for their commendable support. Location
