As a part of the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), a group of 12 Scout Student Leaders is currently in India with two adult leaders (teachers) as an escort for the delegation. They will be in India from 15-29 January 2024 to participate in India’s upcoming Republic Day Celebration on January 26.
During their stay in Delhi, they will visit historical sites such as Agra, Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Red Fort, Humayun Tomb and Lotus Temple among others.
YEP was initiated in 1988 by the IMTRAT in Bhutan. From 1992, the YEP has been facilitated through the Royal Bhutan Embassy in India. To date, 310 Scouts who have undergone leadership training have participated in the YEP. The primary objective of the exchange initiative is to cultivate goodwill, friendship, respect and trust among the youth of both nations. This is achieved by fostering a better understanding and awareness of each other’s history, culture and traditions.
