A total of 59 youths including 19 male and 40 female attended the 19th National Training of Trainers for Y-PEER Networks in Thimphu which was started on July 22 and concluded yesterday.
Organized by the Programme and Youth Coordination Division of the Department of Education Programmes, the workshop was aimed at building the capacity of Y-PEER members to help themselves and their peers lead a healthy and responsible life.
During the training, participants learnt various aspects of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and other relevant life skills that could help them cope with issues affecting their lives. The sessions were designed with knowledge and skills that could help them become more professional peer educators. The training was facilitated by senior Y-PEER members.
Y-PEER Bhutan was established in 2012 as part of the global network to promote SRHR among young people through a peer-to-peer approach. Today, it has 15 networks based at various RUB colleges.
