Building Partnership with the Best
Kasetsart University (KU), one of the Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious universities, has been instrumental in advancing agricultural education and research since its establishment in 1943. Renowned for its contributions to agricultural sciences and economics, KU’s main campus is located in Bangkok, with several other campuses across Thailand. In June 2024, a
team of eleven KU officials visited Bhutan.
On June 7, KU and the Department of Workforce Planning and Skills Development, (DWPSD) signed an MoU to foster closer ties and collaboration in education and skills development. The MoU aims to benefit the Rural Development Training Centre’s, (RDTC) efforts in transforming skills development in agriculture through programs in agro-industry, food science, product development, and marketing. This partnership includes exchanging specialized faculty, with KU providing technical experts to support RDTC’s management, and organizing collaborative seminars and workshops to facilitate knowledge exchange.
Faculty and staff from both institutions will undertake study visits to learn from each other’s academic and administrative practices, sharing valuable experiences and best practices. The MoU also promotes the exchange of academic publications, teaching materials, and relevant information to enhance education and research quality. Both parties will promote each
other’s study programs, facilitate credit transfer opportunities for exchange students, and RDTC will provide necessary support for smooth program implementation, with specific projects detailed in subsequent agreements.
