Sherubtse and Yonphula Centenary Colleges celebrates 15th Convocation Ceremony
Sherubtse College, a beacon of academic excellence on May 26, hosted the Royal University of Bhutan’s 15th convocation ceremony to honour the graduates of Sherubtse and Yonphula Centenary Colleges who completed their studies between 2019 and 2023. Over this period, 2,419 students graduated from Sherubtse while 100 teachers graduated from Yonphula. Among them, 383 graduates attended the occasion.
The event which coincided with the college’s 57th Foundation Day was graced by the Hon’ble Lyonpo for Education and Skills Development. In her address, Lyonpo extended warm congratulations to the graduates, recognizing their unwavering dedication and hard work throughout their academic journey. Lyonpo urged them to uphold the values of excellence, integrity and lifelong learning as they embark on new endeavours, emphasizing the importance of positively impacting their communities and the world at large.
A highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of the Honorary President’s Medal and Certificates to 66 top-performing students. This prestigious recognition, a Royal initiative by Her Majesty Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck aims at promoting academic excellence among the students.
Beyond academic recognition, the convocation served as a vibrant celebration featuring cultural programs, food stalls and an arts exhibition, adding to the festive ambiance of the event.
Sherubtse College holds a distinguished history of fostering academic excellence and nurturing future leaders. Since its foundation, it has been a pillar of learning, innovation and community service with meaningful contributions to society.
According to the Royal University of Bhutan, a total of 17,160 students graduated over the past five years. The convocation, an annual event had been postponed for these cohorts due to the pandemic and other restrictions.
