RENEW and Edith Cowan University join hands to enhance Education Cooperation
Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the President of Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women (RENEW) graced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between RENEW and Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia. The signing ceremony took place on September 14 in Thimphu where Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck and ECU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Chapman formalized the agreement.
This agreement signifies a commitment to strengthen collaboration in education, training programmes, opportunities for student mobility programmes, scholarships, staff capacity building and research. The event also marked the launch of a three-year full scholarship program for the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy at ECU.
RENEW and ECU’s collaboration was established in 2021 through the ECU School of Arts and Humanities (SAH).
ECU is committed to strengthening the ties and friendship between ECU and the people of the Kingdom of Bhutan. This commitment is demonstrated by the recent establishment of the ‘His Majesty the King of Bhutan’s ECU Engineering Scholarships for Gifted and Talented Bhutanese,’ which has already welcomed its first batch of recipients embarking on their educational journeys.
As part of its efforts, ECU has established in-country representatives located at the ECU Hub in Thimphu making it the first Australian university to do so in Bhutan. The Hub launched on September 13 will house the Australia-Bhutan Friendship Centre promoting academic and research collaborations.
