Multimedia skills training for youths completed
A 14-week-long training on multimedia skills for NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) youths which was coordinated by the Programme Coordination Division of the Ministry’s Department of Education Programmes concluded on March 13.
A total of 25 youths attended the training which was rolled out through iBEST INSTITUTE with support from UNICEF. This is the first time that the Division has collaborated with a private training institute to provide well-structured training to NEET adolescents and youths. The programme was aimed to provide young people with a complete set of skills that would help them either get employment or start their own businesses in the field of multimedia and digital marketing.
With the national focus now shifting to digitization and technological innovation, it is important that the Bhutanese youth are equipped with 21st-century transferable skills so that they can become successful in life. This training was conceptualized considering the huge demand for such skills in the modern creative industry and digital market.
During the training, participants were provided skills related to cinematography, script-writing, videography, photography, 2D-animation, story-telling and entrepreneurship. The modules provided a good blend of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Participants have shared that they truly enjoyed the training.
The closing ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of Education Programmes, UNICEF Bhutan and iBEST INSTITUTE. The project was supported by UNICEF.
